K-Pg

This is a chunk of rock taken from the KT boundary.

This is a chunk of rock taken from the K-Pg boundary (formerly known as the KT boundary). This rock is enriched with¬†iridium, which came from dust settling out of the Earth’s atmosphere after a major collision from an asteroid. The asteroid is estimated to have been roughly 10 km wide, and is expected to have contributed to the extinction of the dinosaurs. The weight of cosmic and Earth history in my hand.
